Mark Owen gives his support to Robbie

Published Monday, Feb 19 2007, 23:21 GMT | By David Cribb
Mark Owen has criticised the celebrities who poked fun at Robbie Williams at last week's Brit Awards.

Russell Brand and Noel Gallagher were among the stars to mock the singer, after he was admitted to rehab the day before the ceremony. Williams decided to start rehab treatment for his addiction to prescription painkillers last Tuesday.

"I felt bad at the Brits because there were some jokes said about Robbie that made it look like he was being mocked," Owen told Reveal magazine. "When I heard about him checking into rehab I felt really sad - I just want him to get happy again."

Owen added that he was personally willing to support former bandmate Williams in his time of need: "I'll do anything I can to help him. If he wants me to see him, I'll be straight on that plane. Rob was always my mate and I always felt very close to him. I'm so worried about him. I'm gutted and devastated things have ended up like this. I think he should come back to the UK."
