The singer told Esquire that she is not keen on the taste of booze.
"I don't drink much alcohol," she said. "If it doesn't taste like candy or sparkles, I usually don't drink it."
She added: "Wine sometimes, because it makes me feel classy, but not scotch. Not yet."
Swift also revealed that her new album Red does not solely consist of sad tracks, saying: "This is breaking news, but there are a few happy songs on this album. I do explore the emotion every once in a while.
"I'd like to think you don't stop being creative once you get happy. My ultimate goal is to end up being happy. Most of the time."
However, she joked about her tendency to talk about former boyfriends in her songs, quipping that she does not warn them that she could end up singing about them.
"If they stick around then great," she said. "They're kind of like signing a release form."
Swift, who is currently dating Conor Kennedy, will release Red in the UK on October 22 and a day later in the US.
