Marcia Cross gives birth to twins

Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross and her stockbroker husband Tom Maloney have welcomed twin daughters into the world.

The girls, Eden and Savannah, are the first children for the 44-year-old actress and her 49-year-old husband, who married in June last year.

Cross, who plays perfectionist homemaker Bree Van De Kamp in the hit TV series, has been on bed rest since January, but she insists the period of rest was merely a "precautionary measure".

Her representative Heidi Slan said: "Mother and babies are all doing well."
