Anna Nicole's mother criticises weepy Judge

Anna Nicole Smith's mother has criticised the behaviour of a judge who ruled over her daughter's body.

Virgie Arthur claimed that Judge Larry Seidlin - who wept as he gave his verdict - wanted to be a "film star". Arthur hoped for Anna Nicole to be buried in Texas and is appealing against the Judge's ruling that she should be laid to rest near her home in the Bahamas.

Seidlin's unusual display of emotion has been criticised by other members of the legal profession. Legal analyst Jefrey Toobin described him as "Judge Judy's wacky little brother" during an appearance on CNN, while Miami defence attorney Roy Black said that the scene gave "circuses a bad name".

"I thought he was one of the most entertaining things I had ever seen. He could be a TV judge. He could be a stand-up comic. However, I think he makes a horrible judge," Black said. "He doesn’t follow any of the rules or procedures."
