Scarlett Johansson has made a visit to India in an effort to highlight the suffering of the country's poor.

The Lost In Translation actress flew over on Monday and has been touring schools and slums in New Delhi.

"We are delighted that Scarlett is supporting Oxfam and our work to help end global poverty," explained Ashvin Dayal, south Asian director of Oxfam. "High-profile support helps us to raise awareness of these issues and urge governments and leaders worldwide to act."
