Ronnie Barker's son has been given a 12-month prison sentence for making indecent images of children.

Adam Barker pleaded guilty to 20 counts of the offence last month.

BBC News reports that, of the 1,675 images and videos involved, 92 were classified as 'level four', the second highest in seriousness.

It was also stated in court that 17 of the 20 counts were in relation to pre-teen boys.

Before being charged in July this year, Adam had been on the run for eight years.

Both his father Ronnie and mother Joy passed away during that eight-year period, with detectives having attended Ronnie's memorial service at Westminster Abbey in the hope of interviewing him.

The court was told that the defendant had learnt of his parents' deaths only "relatively recently".

Judge Rosa Dean said that Adam's actions had "contributed to the degradation and continuing abuse of children".

In addition to the prison sentence, he has been banned from working with children, placed on the Sex Offender Register for ten years, and subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order with conditions regarding his use of the internet.
