The Flavor of Love star was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery last week for allegedly threatening his girlfriend and her teenage son with a knife during a heated row about infidelity.
His lawyer announced after a court hearing on Monday (October 22) that Flavor Flav intends to fight the felony charge.
Flavor Flav did not attend the hearing, according to The AP.
The rapper's attorney also indicated that Flavor Flav is still hoping to reconcile with his girlfriend Elizabeth Trujillo.
"They've been together a long time, and they want to work this out. We want what's best for the family," Flavor Flav's lawyer Tony Abbatangelo said.
Flavor Flav is due in court on November 20 to address the charges.
He faces six years behind bars if convicted of the felony offence.
The artist is perhaps best known for being a member of pioneering hip-hop group Public Enemy as well as appearing on various VH1 reality shows.
