The switch-on will be preceded by a performance from Williams, who will also be supported in concert by Leona Lewis and Lawson.

Heart 106.2 DJs Jamie Theakston and Emma Bunton will present the event from 5pm onwards.

The famous lights display runs from Marble Arch to Poland Street, and this year features classic Christmas characters with a Marmite love/hate twist. Also, a specially-designed banner overlooking Selfridges will give people the chance to give their opinions on whether they love or hate the controversial toast topping.

In previous years, the honour of switching on the lights has gone to The Saturdays, the cast of Jersey Boys, and Jim Carrey.
