West orders £2,000 transatlantic curry

Kanye West has ordered a curry in Wales - to cater for a party more than 3,000 miles away in New York.

The rapper is holding a party at a hotel suite on Wednesday and has apparently lodged the transatlantic order on a recommendation from fellow star Snoop Dogg.

Eight portions of Ayre fish, vegetable biryani, mixed vegetable, chutney, onion bhaji and chapati will be delivered from the British Raj, near Newport, Wales, via helicopter, a business class flight, and limousine.

West - a millionaire - is said to be paying a bill upwards of £2,000 on the strength of his friend's tip.

Masud Ahmed, restaurant owner, said he was overwhelmed. "It is unbelievable, I didn't even know this Snoop Dogg man had eaten our food before," he commented. "And when the order came in on the fax we had no idea who Kanye West was, we had to type his name into Google.

"I've never been to America before. I'm very excited it's like a holiday for me," continued Ahmed, explaining he and head chef Kaysor Ahmed would accompany the feast. "Once the party is over Kaysor will spend a night in New York and then fly back the next day. I imagine we'll give him a day off to get over the jet lag."
