Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg ordered Brown to return to court on January 17, 2013 for a further progress update. He is due to undertake a series of world tour dates in November and December.
Brown was sentenced to five years probation and 180 days of community labour in August 2009, after being found guilty of an assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
During Thursday's (November 1) hearing, Judge Schnegg did not address concerns raised at a previous court date about how many hours' community service Brown has completed.
A probation report noted that Brown "appears to be making a sincere effort to comply with terms and conditions of probation", and recommended that the singer remains on probation under the same conditions.
The AP reports that Brown's attorney Mark Geragos was heard to tell his client: "I don't dance, you don't talk", when the musician attempted to speak during proceedings.
Brown and Rihanna are currently the subject of intense speculation suggesting that they have rekindled their relationship.
