"OMG OMG HE DID IT !" she wrote. "HE DID IT ! IM CRYING !!!! THANK GOD HE DID IT !!!!!!
"OMG ! IM SO HAPPY ! THIS IS ONE OF THE GREAT NITES OF MY LIFE !!!! TEARS R STREAMING DOWN MY FACE ! WOMEN WE HAVE A CHAMPION !!!"
She added: "WE WON ! WE WON ! GREAT GOD ALMIGHTY ! WE WON!!"
Cher continued to celebrate the result over the next few hours, writing: "LOVELIES WE WON ! WE WON ! YEAH WE WON ! GOD BLESS PRESIDENT OBAMA! have such a headache! TOLD A FRIEND IT'S 1 OF THE BEST NITES OF MY LIFE.
"WE WON TOGETHER LOVELIES !! WE WON WE WON ! Xxxxme !!!!! God I'm so happy."

She went on: "Romney made a very nice concession speech! Can't wait to tell my mother Pres. Obama WON ! She said her life would never be the same if Romney won! (The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree!) She said'Cher I can't watch him'she's Such A DRAMA QUEEN! Oh ! I Am Too? WE WON XXX."
Cher also took the opportunity to thank her followers for voting for President Obama.
"We've come a LONG WAY TOGETHER !" she wrote. "I know I was a pain in the ass with all my political info! I remember some of U saying we don't care about Politics Cher ! This is boring Cher,But you were open & u told me what was happening with the GOP ! We did this together ! Congratulations!"
Cher is one of many celebrities to express her joy at Obama's re-election, with Beyoncé posting a cheeky "Take That Mitches" message on her website and will.i.am promising to release a victory song next week.
However, Donald Trump has complained about the result and called for a "revolution".
