The former Dancing with the Stars contestant – who apparently weighs 250lbs - shared his weight loss battle on The Doctors, revealing that the struggle dates back to his childhood.
Bono told The Doctors host Dr Travis Stork that he was "put on diets all the time" as a child because being skinny was "prized above all else in his family", reports People.
"There was a lot of pressure to be underweight growing up," he recalled. "I hope the pressure of doing something publicly will give me more incentive [to lose weight]."
Bono – who is the son of Cher – has said he is hoping to shed at least 50lbs with the help of The Doctors throughout the next year.
His first full interview on The Doctors airs on November 14, with future segments charting his weight loss to air throughout the next year.
Bono made headlines months ago for calling off his engagement to fiancée Jennifer Elia after several years together.
