The Dancing with the Stars host made a YouTube video in which she explained her diagnosis, prognosis and the positive approach that she intends to take to treatment.
"This summer and the last few months have been about a whole lot of research and a lot of doctor's appointments for me," Burke Charvet said. "I got my results back and they were atypical... so I had to go and do a whole bunch of additional tests and get second opinions.
"I got my results back and they were not good, and I need to have fibroid surgery and have a thyroidectomy, and I'm gonna have a nice big scar right here across my neck, and I don't get to just walk around or pretend like nothing happened or not follow it up and not share it, because it's pretty much going to be dead centre.
"I don't want anyone to read about it and get the wrong idea or think that I'm sick, because I'm not. I feel really good... that's what so crazy about this whole thing."

Burke Charvet added that she is "used to being in control and taking care of everybody... and now I find myself in this really... out of control situation".
She continued: "Here's the way I see it. I'm just gonna make a positive out of this negative thing and I'm gonna be a really good patient, and I'm going to do everything I need to do."
Burke Charvet said that it took "a couple of months" to process the news, but revealed that she feels strong and "ready to deal with it", and that the doctors have given her a good prognosis.
"As crazy as it is, my head is in the right place, and it's going to be good," she concluded.
