Jimi Hendrix drawings go on show

Drawings by Jimi Hendrix have been put on show after going unseen for 30 years.
The guitar legend drew the two pieces, which show swirling, colourful shapes in a psychedelic style, while on tour. They are among 20 existing pieces of art by the star and are worth up to £10,000 each.
Hendrix gave them to James Tappy Wright who was a roadie with him in the US in 1970, and who has now lent them to Maurice Sutherst - who runs the Making Music shop in North Shields, Tyneside.
"I got the paintings in 1970 when we were in New York," explained Wright. "I wasn't thinking of the value at the time, they were just keepsakes.
"It didn't seem like a big deal at the time. I've only just found them again. I had them folded up and stashed away in a brown envelope somewhere."
He added: "They were done straight out of his head. Any art dealer would immediately identify them as Jimi Hendrix artwork."
