Aussie 'Idol' star Callea outed

Australian Idol runner-up Anthony Callea was "accidentally" outed this week by a Sydney radio station.

Triple M's 'Eye in the Sky' reporter Vic Lorusso mentioned meeting Callea while discussing an old school friend on Monday's breakfast show. "You wouldn't know him," Lorusso said of the friend. "He's a nice guy but his partner, which is Anthony Callea, didn't want to know anything about anybody."

Lorusso avoided further questioning on the revelation, instead continuing with his traffic report. A spokesperson for the station later defended Lorusso, saying: "Vic had no idea that it wasn't common knowledge."

Callea, who finished second in the 2004 edition of the reality contest, had previously denied speculation over his sexuality. "I'm not gay," he said. "I don’t know why people say I am. A lot of people just make up rubbish."
