Jackson attends party in Tokyo

Michael Jackson attended a party in Tokyo yesterday, designed for his less affluent fans.

The pop star, who was present at a gala the night before costing $3,500 per head, spent the evening at a club with 1,000 fans.

Tickets to the event at the Friday nightclub cost $130 and, unlike the event the night before, fans were treated to a stage show of gospel singers and Michael Jackson impersonators.

They were not however given the opportunity to meet the elusive performer.

Jackson told fans at the event: "Japan is one of my favourite places to visit in the world. I want to thank you all for making me the biggest-selling artist in Japan.

"I've been in the entertainment business since I was six years old. As Charles Dickens says, 'It's been the best of times, the worst of times'. But I would not change my career."
