Cheeky Girls hope to prove independence

The Cheeky Girls are close to ditching their mother and taking control over their own careers.

Gabriela and Monica Irimia have told friends that it is time to prove their independence after receiving words of encouragement from Gabriela's MP boyfriend Lembit Opik.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday: "Things between the girls and mum Margit have reached a point where they want to go it alone - but with Lembit's help. She has controlled every aspect of the girls' careers since they became famous in 2002 and they want to relax things a little.

"Lembit reckons it is time for them to try something different - but they don't really want to upset their mum."
