Kelly Ripa, Alec Baldwin raise $100,000 for Hurricane Sandy charities

Kelly Ripa has helped raised $100,000 (£63,099) for The Mayor's Fund, a Hurricane Sandy relief charity .

The Live! with Kelly and Michael host attended the SoulCycle's Soul Relief Rides with actress Brooke Shields and Alec Baldwin in New York City, Us Magazine reports.



Ripa has since released a statement expressing pride that she was able to help raise money for the storm-ravaged local communities in New York.

The star said: "The Sandy Relief fundraiser was important to me because two weeks later there are people in Staten Island, Far Rockaway and Long Beach, NY who still do not have power, water, and basic essentials

"I love to exercise, therefore, if my workout benefits the Mayor's Fund it's a win-win!"

Jerry Seinfeld and Louis CK are also hosting upcoming stand-up comedy benefits in New York City to help relief efforts. Gwyneth Paltrow is also putting a dinner with herself and The Chew host Mario Batali up for auction in co-operation with Fashion for Sandy Relief .

The View's Sherri Shepherd and Susan Sarandon also threw fundraisers last week.
