Although the new film - like the original - will carry no narration, the Sherlock and Star Trek 2 actor has already recorded audio for an adaptation of The Snowman and the Snowdog.

"The magic of The Snowman is universal for every generation; as is the thrill of a first encounter with snow," Cumberbatch said in a statement obtained by the Radio Times.
"In this new story, to bring the Snowdog to life for new young readers was a joy. I hope it will become as much of a Christmas tradition as the beautiful original was when I was a boy."
The Snowman and the Snowdog, which is set 30 years after the original story, will be broadcast on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve.
The audiobook will be released on December 29 for Apple, Nook and Kindle e-readers.
