Stars dress up for artist's birthday
Published Thursday, Mar 15 2007, 12:52 GMT | By Dave West

The event at Shoreditch Town Hall, east London, coincided with Sir Elton's own 60th birthday - and he and partner David Furnish put special effort into their costumes. Both were in uniform - Sir Elton as a Soviet-style army general and Furnish in a US Marine captain outfit.
Sir Paul McCartney came in smart white tie and tails and his daughter, designer Stella, was in a long, green Army jacket.
Most women in attendance went for a glamorous option - birthday girl Taylor-Wood in a Forties-style floor-length evening gown, Elle Macpherson a split emerald green gown, Rosamund Pike a red satin dress and Kate Moss in black.
A popular option among men, meanwhile, was pinstriped gangster suits, sported for example by Sting and Daniel Craig. Others in attendance were Hugh Grant, Barbara Windsor, David Walliams and the Osbournes.
