Stone to appear in veggie advert

Joss Stone is due to appear in a magazine advert promoting vegetarianism.

The ad is being run by campaign group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in an effort to convert people away from eating meat.

Stone is pictured with a hen and quoted as saying: "I am Joss Stone and I am a vegetarian. I'm a singer, a songwriter, a performer and a human being accepting of all sizes, shapes, colours and species."

The singer, a life-long veggie, said she was a strong believer in the cause. She commented: "I wanted to do the shoot because I feel there is no need to cause another living thing pain or harm.

"There are so many other things we can eat. I have never eaten meat in my life and I'm 5ft 10in and not exactly wasting away. A wise man once said, 'Animals are my friends and I'm not in the habit of eating my friends.' That is exactly how I feel."
