The Take That man was given the accolade in June as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours, following his work on the Queen's Jubilee Concert and official Jubilee song 'Sing'.
"I'm going to get my O.B.E. thank you for all your support over the last 21 years," Barlow said on Twitter.
"Thank you to the lovely folk at Bentley Crewe for giving us a car for the special day #brilliant"
Barlow's bandmate Robbie Williams has quipped that the Queen should skip the OBE for him and go "straight to knighthood".
The singer's X Factor boss Simon Cowell was said to be upset that he had been pipped to the honour by his talent show employee.
Other stars to received awards this year include Kenneth Branagh, Kate Winslet Gareth Malone, Amanda Redman and Armando Iannucci.
