Speaking about her CBE, the Reading-born star told reporters: "The sense of gravity is enormous and you very much feel you are being acknowledged by the whole country in a way."

Winslet also informed reporters that she discussed motherhood with the Queen during the ceremony, and when asked about the extent of her passion and love for her craft, Winslet explained: "I said yes, I liked it, but not as much as being a mother. [Motherhood] is the best job."

The mother-of-two, currently dating Richard Branson's nephew Ned Rocknroll, rose to fame in 1997's Titianic and won an Academy Award for her role in The Reader in 2009.

Meanwhile, Gary Barlow received his OBE from the Queen today, which he was given as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours in June.
