Published Monday, Mar 19 2007, 12:25 GMT | By Nick Levine
The murder trial of Phil Spector is about to begin in Los Angeles.
The music producer is charged with killing actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in February 2003.
The 67-year-old denies murder, insisting that Clarkson committed suicide.
A jury is currently being selected from 300 candidates. The trial's opening statements, which will be televised along with the rest of trial, are expected to begin next month.
Spector became famous for the 'Wall of Sound' production style he used on sixties hits like 'Be My Baby', 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling' and 'River Deep-Mountain High'. He later worked with the Ramones and the Beatles.
He has been released on £510,000 bail but faces a life sentence if convicted.
