Chris Brown Twitter rant is 'verbal rape', says Elisabeth Hasselbeck

By
Elisabeth Hasselbeck has condemned Chris Brown's Twitter rant against a comedy writer.

Brown deleted his Twitter following a heated exchange with writer Jenny Johnson, who labelled him "worthless" for his assault on former girlfriend Rihanna.

The 'Forever' singer directed several controversial tweets at Johnson, including telling her to "suck... [his] d**k" and claiming he wanted to "s**t right on... [her] retina". Johnson has since received several death threats from Brown's fans due to the singer's decision to leave Twitter.

Hasselbeck weighed in on the issue on Monday's The View episode by accusing Brown of committing "verbal rape".

"I think it's disgusting, first of all," the View panellist commented. "But also, it seems like verbal rape to me."

She went on to say: "I think at some point there's gotta be a point where Twitter should ban anyone who writes anything forever on there and you should identify yourself."

Hasselbeck's View co-host Whoopi Goldberg also condemned Brown's tweets, but stopped short of calling them "verbal rape".

"I have to say, if you're gonna mess with him [Brown], you have to expect to get your head handed to you," Goldberg said. "Now, I sort of feel like... if you feel like that and you don't wanna fight, don't do that, don't do that."

Goldberg continued: "I disagree with verbal rape, I don't think that's verbal rape. I just think both was assault. Both were verbally assaulting each other, and that is what we need to get rid of on Twitter because it happens too often and too much to too many people."

Hasselbeck then retorted: "It was vile, disgusting and I stand by verbal rape."

Brown has not issued any formal comment on the matter.
