Garraway in 'rage' over extension

Kate Garraway flew into a "rage" at a council planning meeting where she was told to alter a new extension, a report has claimed.

The GMTV presenter and husband Derek Draper were told the £50,000 extension was out of line with regulations for her area of Islington, north London, and must be changed or taken down.

A source told the Daily Mail Garraway reacted badly at the Islington Council plans board hearing.

"She was yelling, almost screaming at the councillors to give her a chance to speak," he explained. "Both she and Derek almost had steam coming out of their ears when one man told how the loft extension was ruining the area.

"Kate started shouting, 'Lies, it’s all lies'. She really lost her cool and had to be warned three times that she would be thrown out unless they stopped their 'diatribe'."

An application for a nursery attached to the house was thrown out in December 2005 but planners discovered work had gone ahead anyway.

Draper, an ex-Labour Party employee, said: "We had to build the extension quickly because we were having a baby."
