Katt Williams's management team has denied that he is retiring from stand-up comedy.

The singer announced earlier this week on a Seattle television show that he was choosing to focus on family following a variety of legal problems

He had said: "I'm just gonna go ahead and announce my retirement from stand-up. I'm kinda done."

Williams's management team has since contradicted those comments in a statement to TMZ, insisting that he will continue his nationwide comedy tour.

"Katt is definitely NOT retiring. He will be moving forward with the tour... Friday is Texas, Saturday New Orleans, and on to Alabama," his spokesperson told the website.

The press statement continued: "The reason why he made remarks was due to him feeling totally disrespected by all the things that happen to him in the city of Seattle. He had a moment where he felt very unappreciated.

"He now just wants to move forward from those unfortunate events and give his fans outstanding shows from this point forward."

Williams was arrested over the weekend in Seattle over an alleged bar fight, for which he has since been charged with two counts of misdemeanour assault.

The comic was previously involved in a separate allegedly violent altercation in California weeks ago.
