Comedian Russell Brand phoned a supermarket chain live on stage to mock their employment policy.
During the gig in Reading, the TV presenter called Waitrose to question them about sacking a trolley pusher Ralph Brombley for eating six grapes.
He asked if the company would re-employ the 56-year-old and pay some of his wages in grapes and then joked that John Lewis allowed their employees to eat five grapes, but drew the line at six.
Mr. Brombley, who has learning difficulties and is blind in one eye, found the grapes in a trolley and reportedly ate them so they wouldn't get squashed.
A spokesperson for Waitrose said: "We have agreed to explore ways to resolve the matter amicably and on confidential terms."
