The Argo director's name has been mentioned as a potential candidate for Massachusetts if John Kerry is nominated to succeed Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.
While speaking with CBS news anchor Bob Schieffer in the forthcoming instalment, Affleck said that he won't get into speculation over his political future.
Although Affleck did not rule out running for office entirely, he did say that his acting work and role outside of government as a political advocate means that he has "a lot on my plate".
"I have a great fondness and admiration for the political process," said Affleck, "but I'm not going to get into speculation about my political future."
Affleck, who is the founder of the Eastern Congo Initiative, also pointed out that Massachusetts has "two extraordinary senators" already.
The Golden Globe nominee was also recently involved in campaigning for Democrat senator Elizabeth Warren.
Affleck's appearance on Face the Nation will air this Sunday (December 23) on CBS.
