Katt Williams was detained by police on Thursday (December 20) due to an alleged altercation at a Subway sandwich shop.

The comedian told TMZ that he was waiting in line at Subway, when police arrived and said that they'd received reports of a disturbance.

Williams was allegedly handcuffed when police found a gun and a small amount of marijuana on his person, but the comic said those items were soon returned when it was discovered he had a medical marijuana card and a gun permit.

He was reportedly released from the squad card without ever being officially cited for any crime.

Police disputed Williams's version of events to the website. A law enforcement source insisted that no firearm was found, only an empty gun magazine.

Williams is apparently mulling a lawsuit over the incident because he believes he was detained over racially-motivated fears.

He has faced a variety of legal problems over the last several months. Williams was recently arrested for slapping a Target employee, but he has since claimed the cashier instigated the matter by using a racial slur.

Williams is also facing a bench warrant stemming from his arrest for a Seattle bar fight weeks ago.
