Away from the Olympics, Christopher Nolan's final chapter in his Batman trilogy - The Dark Knight Rises - came third with 10.9%.
Another major movie event, James Bond's 50th anniversary comeback with Skyfall, was fourth with 7.7%.
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee rounded out the top five with 6.5% of the vote.
