The pair had maintained a relationship after working on Steve McQueen's erotic drama, despite Beharie living in New York and Fassbender staying in the UK.
Fassbender admitted last year that maintaining a long-distance romance was difficult, adding: "Nothing happened while we were filming [Shame]. We started talking more on the promotion thing. So, yeah, it just sort of unfolded like that."
Beharie recently took to Twitter to share with followers that she and Fassbender recently chose to call it quits on their romance.
"Yes it's true Fassbender and I are no longer dating," she wrote on Friday (January 11).
Fassbender has not commented on the end of his and Beharie's relationship.
The X-Men: First Class actor has maintained a career in Hollywood over the last few years by travelling to Los Angeles without actually moving to the city.
