Stevie Wonder has reportedly been hit with a tax lien for the paltry amount of $40 by the state of California.

The 'Superstition' singer apparently failed to pay a small portion of taxes to the state and now has also incurred $98 in additional penalties, reports TMZ.

California's tax board has apparently demanded that Wonder pay a total of $138 to resolve his outstanding bill.

Wonder has not commented on this matter.

He most recently made headlines for donating $100,000 (£61,500) to 10-year-old cancer patient Jasmine Faulk to help in her fight against the disease.

The musician will also be performing at US President Barack Obama's inaugural balls next week alongside Usher, Alicia Keys and Katy Perry.
