Hugh Grant has sensationally revealed that Four Weddings And A Funeral mastermind Richard Curtis did not want him for the lead role.
The actor, who has since worked Curtis in Notting Hill and Love Actually, has admitted the writer did not look impressed at his audition for the part of Charles, and that he was not holding out any hope of securing the role.
"There was only one person who looked really miserable - the guy wearing glasses sitting at the back - that was Richard Curtis," Grant recalled. "He never wanted me, he wanted someone else. But you'll have to ask him about that."
