Britney Spears 'knew Jason Trawick romance was over last year'

Britney Spears knew her relationship with Jason Trawick had come to an end last year, sources have claimed.

The couple announced on Friday that they had decided to split, while Trawick resigned from his position as Spears's co-conservator.



However, Spears was aware that the romance was coming to an end and stopped wearing her engagement ring in December, People reports.

"Jason was around for parts of the holiday, but it was very obvious that they were not really together anymore," a source said. "They were not affectionate and instead just seemed to keep things going for the boys' sake."



Adding that Spears looked "a bit gloomy and tense" during the festive period, the insider suggested that she "acted like she knew [her wedding] would not happen".

The source claimed that Spears, who got engaged to Trawick in December 2011, had originally wanted to "rush in" to marriage.



"But there were things that needed to improve before they got to that place," the source said. "They love each other, but like any relationship, there were some major challenges and hurdles and constant work that needed to be done.

"At the end of the day, it just wasn't working, and things weren't going to change, so it was time to let go."



Recent reports have claimed that Trawick is "worried" about what Spears might do now that the couple have separated. He has allegedly signed a confidentiality agreement banning him from speaking out about the relationship.
