The Modern Family star got engaged to her fiancé Nick Loeb last summer while celebrating her birthday in Mexico, and confirmed the betrothal in August.
However, she has now told People that she does not really have time to plan the kind of ceremony she would like.
"If I'm going to do something, it's going to have to be a big event," she said. "I just had my 40th birthday in Mexico. I had more than 100 people.
"Now I don't have the time [to prepare for a wedding] - and it will have to be one weekend when I have the time to plan something fun. I don't even know what I'm going to do."
However, Vergara explained that she has some ideas about what she would like her wedding day to be like, saying: "[We want] more like of a party [with] music, dancing, a lot of food - not really sitting there hours and giving speeches."
Vergara has previously admitted that she never planned to remarry but explained that she is "very happy" with Loeb, saying: "It's perfect."
Reports earlier this month alleged that Loeb had been asked to leave a nightclub's New Year's Eve celebrations after arguing with Vergara and a fellow reveller.
