'Barney the Dinosaur' creator's son 'arrested for attempted murder'

Barney & Friends creator Sheryl Leach's son has reportedly been arrested for attempted murder.

Patrick Leach, 27, was arrested in Agoura Hills, California for allegedly shooting a man on January 9 in Malibu, according to The Acorn - via TMZ.

Police officials have stated that they have found evidence which links Patrick Leach to the shooting.

A motive for the shooting of the 49-year-old man is still to be determined.

The shooting victim has been treated at UCLA and is reportedly expected to fully recover.

Sheryl Leach created Barney & Friends with Kathy Parker and Dennis DeShazer in the late 1980s, launching the hugely popular children's character Barney the Dinosaur.
