Forest Whitaker has been presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 45-year-old actor won an Academy Award earlier this year for his portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland. He also starred in 2002's Panic Room and 1992's The Crying Game.
He launched a directing career in 1995 when he helmed Whitney Houston drama Waiting To Exhale, later directing Sandra Bullock in Hope Floats and Katie Holmes in First Daughter.
He was joined at the ceremony by his wife Keisha, his daughters Autumn, Sonnet and True, and friends including fellow actors Kiefer Sutherland and Angela Bassett.
Whitaker said that the honour represented "where I came from, where I am going and hopefully where I am at right now".
