Justin Timberlake denies Britney Spears 'bitch' comment

Justin Timberlake has made an effort to take back his recent inflammatory comment seemingly concerning ex-girlfriend Britney Spears.

Timberlake faced backlash for a statement he made prior to performing his Spears-inspired break-up song 'Cry Me a River' at a New Orleans Super Bowl show on Saturday (February 2).

He said: "Sometimes in life, you think you found the one. But then one day you find out that she is just some bitch!"

Spears allegedly cheated on Timberlake with choreographer Wade Robson in 2002, though neither party has ever publicly confirmed or denied the report.

After criticism from fans of the popstar, Timberlake took to his Twitter account to clear up reports that his comment was about Spears.

He wrote: "Ok. I see you. Wouldn't disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever. #Relax #ItsBritneyBitch I do love that saying though *with accent* #Respect."
