The 'Don't Judge Me' singer was adorned in a white Lanvin suit and Dries Van Noten shoes for the music industry's biggest night, while girlfriend Rihanna wore a red gown on the red carpet.
Stylist Daver Campbell spoke about Brown's attire to Celebuzz, revealing that the star was attempting to show that he is overcoming personal problems such as his fight with Frank Ocean and possible probation violation.
"Like most artists, Chris Brown has experienced turmoil both in his personal and professional life. White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity and virginity and considered to be the colour of perfection," Campbell explained.
Campbell's styling partner Ugo Mozie went on to suggest that Brown was hoping his appearance at the Grammys would show that he is committed to living a peaceful life.
"White represents a successful beginning and only being in the second month of the New Year, we wanted to vocalize this with little to no words," Mozie said.
"I believe Chris wearing white speaks volumes and establish a new journey and peace in his self and rising career in music."
Brown was the subject of controversy at Sunday's Grammy Awards for not joining the audience in giving Frank Ocean a standing ovation when he accepted the 'Best Pop Solo Performance'.
His actions allegedly led to a confrontation with Adele later in the evening, although the exact nature of their encounter is not known.
