Hugh Grant has accepted undisclosed libel damages from Associated Newspapers after suing over false stories printed in the Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday.
The actor, who donated the proceeds to the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity, objected to three "fictional" reports printed about his break-up with Jemima Khan.
"I took this action because I was tired of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday papers publishing almost entirely fictional articles about my private life for their own financial gain," Grant said in a statement.
Hugh's solicitor Simon Smith explained: "The truth is that all of the above allegations and factual assertions are false. Insofar as the claimant chose not to challenge all facts set out in the articles, that should not be taken that he accepts they are true."
