Bauer UK won't publish pregnant Kate Middleton bikini baby bump photos

By
Bauer Media UK has distanced itself from the decision of Australia's Women's Day to publish unauthorised photographs of the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge in a bikini.

Women's Day is published by Bauer Media Australia, part of the same Bauer Media Group as the UK arm that prints Heat, Grazia, Closer, Take A Break and Bella.

Britain's The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend the official opening of St. George's Park, the Football Association's National Football Centre.
Prince WIlliam and Kate were given a tour of the main facilities on the 330-acre site and also met England Manager Roy Hodgson and his squad as they train at St. George's Park for the first time.

A spokeswoman for Bauer Media UK told The Guardian in a statement: "Bauer Media Australia's editorial decisions are made entirely independently from those of Bauer Media UK.

"We would like to reiterate that Bauer Media UK would not publish images of this nature in any of our titles."

As both the UK and Australian arms are owned by the same Bauer Media Group, this is a different situation to last September's publication by French Closer of topless photographs of the Duchess.

In that case, Closer France was published not by Bauer but under licence by Italian business Mondadori.

At that time, a Bauer statement read: "Closer magazine UK was not offered any pictures of this nature and certainly has no intention of publishing the photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge which have been published in France this morning.

"Closer magazine UK takes its obligations under the PCC [Press Complaints Commission] Code extremely seriously and would never publish topless images of a member of the Royal family on its cover or otherwise."

The new bikini photographs were taken on the Caribbean island of Mustique and first published in Italian magazine Chi, before other magazines said that they planned to do the same.
