The 'No Regrets' star, who had faced a maximum of three years in prison, broke down in tears and shouted "yes" at Guildford Crown Court, according to reports. If he breaks the law again over the next 18 months, he will be put in jail.
Dappy - real name Costadinos Contostavlos - also has to pay £4,500 in compensation and £2,000 in costs after being found guilty of beating David Jenkins during the February 2012 fight last month.
The court heard during the nine-day trial that Dappy became angry after being snubbed by two 19-year-old girls at a Shell forecourt in Guilford, sparking a fight that involved several of the star's companions and left three men - including Jenkins, a bystander - severely injured.
Dappy had been cleared of two counts of common assault on the teens, Grace Cochran and Serena Burton, but the court heard that saliva with a DNA link to the musician was found on Jenkins's T-shirt after he apparently spat on him.
Co-defendant Kieran Vassell, 25, of Hammersmith, west London, was also found guilty of affray, while Alfred Miller, 28, of Brentford, west London pleaded guilty to affray.
A fourth defendant, Kalonji Stewart, 32, of Harborne, Birmingham, was found not guilty of the same offence.
Dappy had protested the verdict on Twitter immediately after being found guilty, claiming that he had acted in self defence.
"Not guilty For spitting at the Females but Guilty for defending my self from the 3 Males!!!! #ThisAintRight," he wrote.
