The former Countryfile presenter reportedly had to be locked in a room by his wife Marina due to a "bad trip" on Friday, February 15.
It is thought that somebody put the hallucinogenic drug into his wine while he visited friends at a pub in Gloucester.
The adventurer, having arrived back from the pub with his wife and two young children, began to experience a "psychotic episode".
"I was acting like a madman. I thought I was doomed. I thought I was going to die," he is quoted as saying in The Sun.
"I picked my daughter up and she felt incredibly light, like a grain of rice. I suddenly had this compulsion to jump through a window.
"My wife ran out and got my friends who had to restrain me."
Fogle added that he also impersonated John Cleese in the 'Ministry of Silly Walks' routine from Monty Python's Flying Circus.
He was later taken to hospital where doctors informed him that his drink had been spiked with LSD. The star soon reported the incident to police.
Fogle will host Channel 5 documentary series Where the Wild Men Are in the spring, a programme about people living in the most remote locations in the world.
