The alleged suspect was confronted by Rihanna's neighbors after he was spotted lingering around her property and then actually entering the home, reports TMZ.
Los Angeles police arrived on the scene to apprehend the man, who claimed that he had been sent directions to the home and simply followed them.
An investigation into criminal burglary is underway, although it is not yet clear if the man is still in police custody.
It is also not yet known if Rihanna was actually home at the time of the incident.
The 'We Found Love' singer has thus far issued no comment.
Rihanna made separate headlines this week for sharing an image of herself and boyfriend Chris Brown allegedly rolling a blunt in honour of her 25th birthday.
