The singer's plea was reportedly entered by his attorney.

Brown - the ex-husband of late musician Whitney Houston - was also given four years' probation by the court, and has been ordered to complete an 18-month alcohol programme as part of his sentence for the offence in October 2012.

He must report to jail no later than March 20, and has been ordered to attend three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week until he starts his time in custody.

Brown has been convicted twice for similar offences previously, once last year and once in 1996.
