The 43-year-old singer has been ordered by District Judge Katherine Marshall to attend the first day of his trial at Brent Magistrates' Court, north-west London.
Michael's lawyers had originally hoped that he would not be forced to attend the trial.
The 'Too Funky' star faces a charge of driving while unfit through drugs.
The trial will continue on May 30, May 31 and June 8. Michael is scheduled to play the first concert at the refurbished Wembley Stadium on June 9.
