Miranda Hart has begun her week of Comic Relief challenges despite twisting her knee.

The comedian will attempt to set a Guinness World Record on day one of The BT Red Nose Challenge Miranda's Mad March by waxing 16 hairy rugby players' armpits in three minutes.

"Crikey! I'm a shaver not a waxer so this is completely new territory for me!" Hart said.

"Goodness knows where the wax is going to end up tonight - all I can say is good luck Newcastle!"

Hart was set the task by Chris Evans live on BBC Radio 2's Breakfast Show this morning (March 11).

Of her knee-twisting injury, Hart said: "I should have known better, I was wearing a heel at the time, which is ridiculous as I'm 6'1."

"To be honest, it was only an inch-and-a-half heel but that was enough to do it, I normally only wear ballet pumps!

"I was in my hotel room and it just went. So much for my Mad March - this is now definitely going to be Miranda's Mad Hop!"

Today's challenge will be followed by trips to Manchester, Birmingham and Oxford, ending in London on March 15.

In addition to Hart's fundraising, BT marks 'Chat for Change Day' on Thursday, March 14 - with 1p donated for every call made from a BT home phone line or BT business line.
