Michael Jackson family seeking over $40 billion from AEG Live

By
Michael Jackson's family are reportedly seeking damages in excess of $40 billion (£26.5 billion) from AEG Live.

The late popstar's children Prince Michael, Paris, Prince Michael II ('Blanket') and mother Katherine are suing the promoter for its alleged role in Jackson's death in 2009.

The children are said to be seeking $10 billion for Jackson's future earnings, TMZ reports, plus $50 million for other damages.

AEG reportedly believes the sum is ridiculous and speculative, allegedly citing the downward spiral of Jackson's career up to the time of his death following his self-imposed exile and continued allegations of child abuse.

Sources have also told the gossip website that Murray will use the fifth amendment to refuse to testify in the lawsuit.

The doctor's lawyer Valerie Wass has reportedly argued that any statements made by Murray may harm the appeal for his involuntary manslaughter conviction in relation to Jackson's death.

Murray's planned deposition today (March 18) was reportedly cancelled. He had reportedly been given a subpoena to appear in the civil trial.
