Asked about the encounter, Franco said: "Oh gosh. Poor Lindsay. I haven't talked to her in a while... We were friends."

The actor, who explained that he was staying at the famous Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood while his house was remodelled, revealed that Lohan had been living there for a couple of years when they met.

When Stern pushed him on whether he turned her down, Franco replied: "I mean, I don't want to brag about it. I don't know how that got out.

"[She] was having issues even then, so you feel weird. Honestly, she was a friend. I've met a lot of people that are troubled and sometimes you don't want to do that."

Meanwhile, asked about his current relationship status, Franco revealed that he is "dating" and "would like a long-term relationship".

Franco recently opened up about speculation that he is gay, saying: "It's not something that bothers me in the slightest."
